The storage heater (partial storage heater) is an electric heating system with an integrated heat storage unit. It charges the storage unit with electricity and then releases the heat in a controlled manner with a time delay. This results in even, long-lasting heat emission and a short response time. This type of heater is particularly suitable for rooms that are in permanent use and regularly heated.

A metrological study conducted with the Technical University of Dresden analysed the heat output of a storage heater. The measured values showed a distribution of around 41% radiant heat and 59% convection heat. Further tests document energy consumption and compliance with EU Ecodesign / ErP standards.
The following specifications are based on a Technotherm reference model. Technotherm is our specialist retail brand and has been part of LUCHT LHZ since 2012.

When selecting products for the OEM portfolio, performance data is not the only decisive factor; heat output, control behaviour and application profile are also important considerations. The following questions provide concise and practical answers to the most important points concerning storage heating.
A storage heater uses electric heating elements to charge a fireclay storage mass, which then releases the heat evenly over a longer period of time. If the core temperature drops, the heater is briefly recharged so that the heat release phases are longer than the actual power supply. Typically, short charging intervals are sufficient to provide significantly longer heating. Infrared heaters, on the other hand, provide heat directly during the power supply and are particularly suitable for fast, targeted heating. It is an ideal solution for regularly used rooms that require long-term heating, as storage technology and control systems ensure consistent heat distribution.

The storage heater can be mounted on a wall, or it can be purchased as a mobile unit with feet or castors.
It is controlled via an integrated digital thermostat. Optional control via the SmartControl app or browser is also available.
