Lucht LHZ receives grant for a new EU project

Congratulations! Your project application has been selected and is approved by the DigiFed project, which is funded by the European Horizon 2020 program.

This positive news reached us this week and made the Lucht LHZ team very happy. Together with our French partners we applied for funding from DigiFed with the “TouchHeat” project. All eligible proposals were evaluated by three external independent experts as well as DigiFed representatives. Only about 10% of the applicants receive a positive funding commitment, which shows what a great success the selection of our project for support from EU funds is.

TouchHeat

Under the project acronym “TouchHeat”, a project proposal was developed in international cooperation, which deals with the possibility of achieving energy-saving effects in electrical radiators with the help of a new type of NFC thermostat. The project is a cooperation between two French companies, one expert in NFC technology and one specialist for heat regulation solutions and Lucht LHZ Elektroheizung GmbH & Co. KG from Germany (producer of high quality electrical heaters).

The project aims to demonstrate that NFC can be used to create a convenient, simple and efficient user interface with a special focus on simple programming. The next step is to evaluate how NFC can facilitate the introduction of new products, product uses and customer service.

The new type of thermostat will be based on NFC technology, which is now implemented in all smartphones. The use of NFC is becoming more popular due to the development of mobile payment, ticketing and other applications. The use in connection with an electric heater is similar to a remote control and does not require installation. It enables the use of a larger and mobile screen with a user-friendly interface. The transfer of the changes made in the smartphone or tablet is simple and intuitive, all you have to do is “touch” the heater with the NFC device.

With this NFC thermostat, the perfect bridge is built between existing mobile control options such as WiFi and radio control and manual control. You get the best of both worlds: the convenience of digital control via end devices such as smartphones and tablets and the lack of additional devices such as interfaces and radio transmitters / receivers.

DigiFed

DigiFed is one of the 16 EU-funded H2020 projects under the umbrella of SAE (the “Smart Anything Everywhere” initiative) and supports EU industry in digitizing its products and services and opening up new markets. The focus is on effective cross-border cooperation between European start-ups, SMEs and medium-sized companies with the aim of jointly implementing innovative digitization projects.
